Meet Dr. Elisabeth Specht
Dr. Specht graduated from the University of Alberta with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2007. She then completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Alberta Hospital. She continued to work at the hospital dental clinic, providing dental care to people with complex medical issues, including organ transplants, and head and neck cancer. After 3 years she became Chief of Dentistry for the University of Alberta Hospital Dental Clinic. Following this, she served the people of the Northwest Territories for several years at her dental clinic in Hay River.
It was through these experiences that she decided to focus her dental practice on her two biggest passions: dental surgery and sedation. She also recognized the challenges faced by patients who live in smaller cities or towns in accessing this kind of dental care. As such, Dr. Specht has partnered with several clinics throughout Alberta to make dental surgery and sedation more accessible.
On a more personal note, Dr. Specht is proud to have grown up on a farm near Lacombe, Alberta. She loves to spend time with her beloved husband, her family and friends. Her favorite past-times are playing the piano, gardening and cooking. She will also take every opportuniry to cuddle with all the dogs in her life. Travelling is also high on her list of favorite things to do. She has travelled to Colombia, Peru, Nicaragua, Cambodia and Ecuador with the dental charity, Kindness in Action, to provide dental care to people in remote, under-served and under-privileged areas.
